Default Sprint and Data connection refused

Please Login to Remove!

Anyone using sprint and getting "Data Connection Refused" often? We are seeing this on numerous Sprint devices and wondering if others are seeing it and if so I ask that you call Sprint and/or RIM and let them know. This needs to get resolved.

It refers to lack of data package assigned to unit (at least as far as Verizon is concerned). The blackberry units automatically check for mail - so the unit is saying that it couldn't do so.

Wirelessly posted (your electric?: BlackBerry7520/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.12)

Are you too busy to call them to yourself? I would have to agree with the previous post.

Come on guys, give me a little credit.
First, I know what it means.
Second, I have called them and am working with them on it. They are acting like we are the only ones having this issue and don't seem to be taking it too seriously. Maybe it is just a local issue for me. I thought maybe if others were having the issue, however, then maybe more could contact Sprint and put a fire under them. I know when I investigated in my company, I found a lot of people experiencing this problem and were just "living" with it.

Not sure where you are located but we are in Houston.
We just switched from Verizon to Sprint for our blackberries.(please dont ask why)
The Data Connection Refused error has become more apparent and more of an issue over the past month since we have received the devices.
Sprint tech support, customer service and our own rep has been very SLOW on providing ANY solution.
I refuse to believe it is the device 7750 because I have friends\neighbors with 4 blackberries and all DIFFERENT providers who can sit and work while I experience ONE if not ALL of the following problems:
1. Data connection refused
2. Voicemail indicator stays at 1 and does not increase (known problem with Sprint) (Verizon berry did not have this issue)
3. Missed phone call, person leaves message, no message waiting indicator
4. Instances of no direct communication with network thus missing SMS, PINS and Emails in my inbox
5. Reboot, take battery out and reset and half the time the system will update the other half, it will start then give me Data Connection Refused
6. Will notice at times that PIN\Email will put messages in waiting status but can SMS without a problem
7. Dropped calls or delay in getting phone connection.
8. Stripped Subject headings at times with messages
9. Everything on but then all of a sudden, messages come into Inbox like the system needed a kick start or something
Need I go on? (this will be enough for now)

I realize RIM has had some down time the past couple of months but you cant tell me all the issues happening are RIM or Device related. Especially when I can sit in the same room with my gal and notice her berry working fine

An email to Sprint support resulted in a response of GET A MANUAL AT YOUR LOCAL STORE!!!

HA! Not until I identified myself as an IT person did they finally point me to Blackberry Tech support directly.

Please keep me posted as we still are waiting for Sprint to do an eval of our building (that was too funny) even though the issues are popping up all over the city.

At least someone could say "Hey, these are known issues and we are working on it"
Thanks
J

We are in Houston as well. Talked with sprint today. It appears what is happening is the devices are loosing their ip addresses for some reason and not getting them back. Today even removing the battery and putting it back in wasn't always fixing it. Airpooh, I sent you a PM. I would like to talk to you about this.

Cool You are not alone...

I am in the Atlanta, GA area and have also experienced this "Data connection refused" message on a daily basis since I switched to Sprint BB. I called Spring and they first asked me to do a dozen tricks to the unit, but nothing. I called them 1/2 dozen times until finally they agreed it was a problem with the network and created a trouble ticket for my area. I am still experiencing the same behavior but not as often as I used to. What I have found interesting is if I turn off the signal on the main menu with the tower icon, wait about 90 seconds and I turn it back on, then I can receive and send emails again. Interesting ah! Good luck...

Well, I have been working this for a while and here is what I found. The Sprint network uses Cisco Mobile IP and the 7750s weren't made to handle that so Sprint had to find a nother method to get the 7750s to authenticate on the network so they went to another provider to use their network. Therefore, the 7750s have to authenticate twice to get on Sprint's network.

This other provider is the issue. Their authentication servers have become unstable, causing this. They have had a few major outages in the last month and as well as this "data Connection refused" issue. Took me a long time of calling, complaining, digging, asking questions and getting with RIM to get all the information to know what is going on.

Now, Sprint says they are close to getting this resolved by replacing some equipment and/or making some routing changes. We'll see.

Anyway, I just love how they always want you to try this, that, and the other when all along it is their network. I want to say, "What part of 'All my 7750s are experiencing thiks' don't they understand.

The 7250s don't have this issue because they were built to use Mobile IP and authenticate to Sprint only.

Fuzzy Rev and Mr. Pink, As you can see I can and did call and do know what it all means. I now have Sprint admitting the problem and they are working on it.

Cool Me Too!

Same issue here outside Washington, D.C. - Chatted with the nice folks at Sprint who agree there is a problem, but sent me a new BB instead of admitting network issue - just got it activated this morning - guess what? "Data Connection Refused" all over again. Oh, well, back to the helpdesk.....

Airpooh, I think we work for the same people.

We've moved a lot of users to Sprint, and seen these 'Data Connection refused" errors come up frequently when moving user's existing numbers from other carriers over to Sprint. (This problem is NOT related to Cisco routers).

In this case, the devices are not being programmed properly over the air when the ported cell # activates on the device. The MSSID or Email address or password programmed internally on the BlackBerry doesn't change when programmed remotely, and causes a connection problem. It can be reprogrammed by hand with assistance from Sprint, and normally resolves the immediate problem.

Our frustration is that the problem continues, Sprint can't seem to fix it no matter how many times it occurs or how many examples we provide of who it happened to, and that 'handcrafting' each 'repair' is costly in terms of time and money of the individuals involved.

Add the 'Cisco' problem with the 7750, and I'd gather Sprint Tech Support has their hands full. (I'm certainly not trying to defend Sprint here; they owe it to their customer base - Business and personal - to whip this problem NOW, not later).

Yeah, we have had the same problem. I HATE SPRINT WITH A PASSION, actually. It happen so much, I call Sprint support and jus say, here is my phone number, now give me the MSSID so I can go in and program the device correctly. Many times they have argued with me that that isn't the problem. I have to argue back and finally, they will give the number. I go into the programming screen and something is not right. On more than one occassion the support person says, "Well, you should never have to go in there, that is quite rare." Yeah right!!!!

Sprint should never have gone to Blackberry!!! They can't handle it.!!
