Default delete old BIS account and make a new one?

Please Login to Remove!

I did a search and didn't find anything unless I am blind and chose the wrong words but....

I received my BB pearl from Howardforums and everything activated perfectly. Last night I tried creating an account at bis for Verizon and it said an account already exists. I did ask the seller about this but he has not gotten back to me yet.

Thinking right, there probably is not a way to delete the account and create a new one correct

You can call verizon and ask them to release the PIN and ESN. This will allow you to create a new account

update:

I called in, and Verizon is not able to delete the existing account, but they were able to change the password.

So I am able to get into the account, change the password and add an email account.

Thanks again Sith.

not a problem. Normally they can release the PIN, as i have to have it done alot. You can delete the account once you are in it though, so that should be easy enough. Then you can register for one of your own.

I don't see an option to delete the account once I am in there. Unless Verizon is different than AT&T

meant to say email account once you are in. you can always change the PIN in the BIS account to something else (like your old blackberry if you have one, or an old blackberry) then create a new BIS account from there. Although since you have the username and password, there is no reason why Verizon cant change the username or delete the login altogether. I just had it done on my 8130

Oh I understood now :D

I will call tomorrow, and ask again. It's not a big problem, but it is another username I have to remember than my usual one.

Thanks again Sith

Just curious. The account was set up by someone else (presumably the previous owner). Verizon would not release the PIN and ESN, but instead did a password reset or whatever so that you gained access to the account? If that's the case, it doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy if I were a vzw customer. Is there something here I don't understand?

well you have to verify account information first. if the phone is active on the account you verify (name, sometimes address, phone number, and password/last4 of the social) then they will give you any information you want

Part of what's throwing me here, maybe, is what I know and what I'm used to, and that is that on TMO, your login information is same for account maintenance as well as BIS. Perhaps it's two different things on VZW?

The other more general point I'm confused on is that if someone found or stole my VZW blackberry (if I were a customer), and assuming they successfully got it activated on VZW's network, would they then simply be able to provide *their* verification information and take over *my* BIS account?

oh, yes the login is seperate (well can be if you set it seperately) on VZW. With Tmo you have to use the MyTmobile login, with most other carriers there is a seperate login page. If you report a device as stolen on CDMA, it is blacklisted and cannot be activated. The activation is dependant on the serial number, not a SIM card

Got it. I'm still bothered by what vzw did for the op. If it were me, I'd rather they release the PIN and ESN and allow the new owner to set up the BIS from scratch, rather than give the new owner access to the previous owner's BIS. At least that's the way I read what happened.

ive never had them provide me a username and pw, they just delete the entire account. i am in a semi unique position on that though so i may be talking to those that others cannot talk to.
