I have a BB pearl with AT&T and I'm migrating to T-Mobile, but getting the 8820 curve.
My question is, is the curve locked down to where you have to buy ringtones to get different ones?
Right now my girlfriend has the sidekick slide and you can't use any songs stored on it as ringtones, so I wanna make sure I don't get the same BS.

No, you can make or download any ringtones you want and load them to your BB for ringtones.

There are plenty of FREE ringtones available OTA as well. Buying is not always the case. One free site that has a consortium of ringers is Tune Us In - Ringtones, MP3,Wallpapers , Themes For Your Mobile Phone (I am in no way affiliated with that site - I have had good downloads is all).
