Default BREAKING NEWS! RIM BlackBerry Outage - 02-12-2008, 03:40 PM

RIM is currently experiencing an issue that is causing approximately 50% of BlackBerry customers to be without service. This outage is affecting all carriers.

RIM is working diligently to resolve the issue, and there is no ETA for when connections will be restored at this time.

RIM Blackberry outage

A number of readers have contacted us about the current RIM Blackberry outage. It would appear that this is affecting a large number of Blackberry users in the US. Although this is not a security posting, we do understand that a lot of security and system admin staff are attached to their Blackberry so its time to hold together fellow admins until the e-mails start flowing.
I'm not having any problem, however.

that cannot be right. 40 blackberries in my house, you would think 1 has an issue, or someone would have reported it on DataOutages.com Where did you get this info? also welcome to the forums. a second outage in as many days would be devastating

Co-Workers in the Southwest US have no had any issues, nor have any of the stores they support. Try placing a call to your carrier and see what they have to say

Lets not jump to conclusions now.
Thats why I came here first, to see what was up.

it might just be a temporary outage. As it sometimes connects, sometimes doesnt.

it also could be a carrier issue. RIM support, RIM customer Serivce, and noone on DataOutages have reported anything. Try calling Tmobile. On the other hand you may be the first to report, but lets rule out Tmo first

See the list isn't for just global or national outages, if someone is down in a certain state, country, city, carrier, then they post to see if others are having the same issue.

The only issue for us is Pending Emails. Like last time there was an outage RIM is sending them in batches so the service doesnt fail again. Right now i have a ton of pending messages on both of my servers and it email is coming into the blackberries anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes behind.

no issues with email here, both BIS and BES are working just fine. Also was just down at a congressmans office helping them out with getting to know their devices, and they would have been the first to jump down my throat if there was an issue.

sorry to hear it is your phone, you can try to upgrade/downgrade the OS and see if that helps you. Follow the instructions in Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ.com if you need help. glad it isnt a network issue though

Yes, around 3:30pm MST we stopped getting BB service again... we have our own BES server that talks thru Rogers (Alberta, Canada)!

Called support - they deny everything

It is formatted different it's actually: [email address]
the data rep I spoke to told me it's because I don't have a BB data plan which made me laugh because I do have one. He then assumed I was in an area with 1 bar of signal I said wrong its an area where I have 5 bars. After that he said let me look at your account and put me on hold. After a few mins he came back and said that he found the problem, I said that's fantastic and proceeded to ask him what the issue was.

He started to lecture me about filters and told me that it seems that my gmail accounts have filters on them and that there is NO need to EVER use a filter on any BlackBerry. I told him that I have filters in place so I do not receive a duplicate email of a sent email. He told me it's impossible for gmail to ever send a duplicate and that with google's smarts that their email implementation is second to none. I held my temper and asked to speak to somebody else as this guy was just out to lunch.

He refused and told me that he is top tier support for RIM via the carrier therefore knows the ins and outs. I was unable to send service books on my end and asked if he could at least do that as maybe it'll work he said no so I hung up. Called again and the CSR I spoke to was much better. He reprovisioned my account and sent my service books and now all is fine again.
