I am looking into getting my first BB (or PDA for that matter). Unfortunately for choices I am stuck with Verizon. My question is should I just get the 8830 or wait until the curve comes out in the spring?? I don't really understand all the tech specs on all these phones UMA or that stuff. I will primarily be using the BB for email and browsing. Anyone weigh in and help me out with the pros and cons?

There is no wifi device coming out any time soon for CDMA/Verizon. If you're stuck with Verizon then you might as well forget about UMA.

Also, there is no guarantee that Verizon will come out with the Curve. I would choose the 8830 or the 8130. Might not hurt to wait a bit longer and see what happens, though.

Do you want or need a camera? The curve has a camera. If your going with VZW you won't need UMA.

I don't even know what UMA is so I have no problem forgetting about it!!

UMA is voice calls over a wifi connection. Verizon doesn't have any wifi BB's.

It just depends on what you want. The Curve will have a camera whereas the 8830 does not.

I don't car about a camera, I have a camera for that!!

Is that about the only real difference in functionality between the two?

I do like the looks of the curve a bit better.

That's about it. The keyboards are slightly different and the 8830 is just a little bigger than the 83xx devices.
