| How to get Hotmail on your device Please Login to Remove! This is a workaround for those that have hotmail accounts without POP3 access. You must have a Blackberry Data Plan, and you must sign up for the free carrier address (ie ![[email address]](http://www.blackberryforums.com/?emailimage=42bdde0b838dac5d61e4aad81b8e2720) ). Also, you must log into your hotmail account once every 120 days to keep it active. Microsoft Deleted accounts that are inactive more 120 days or more. - go to your carrier's BIS site and log in ( Where can I log into my BIS account? - BlackBerryFAQ.com )
- Do not try and integrate your hotmail account, instead look for the section BlackBerry Device Email Address and set up your address
- after you have created the account, click Edit on the settings page
- on the General Settings page, set [b]reply to address/b] to your hotmail address
- select save
- log into your hotmail account Sign In
- look on the right side of the page for Options
- scroll down to More Options
- in the first section, Manage your Account select Forward Mail to another Account
- Select the second option Forward your mail to another e-mail address
Type the e-mail address you want to forward the mail to: - Enter the BIS email address and press save (yourname@carrier.blackberry.net)
- close out of hotmail
- send yourself an email from your BIS account to your hotmail account
- you should see the sent from address and the received address are identical

| Sith, i got this error for an account i have recently created with a hotmail tag: Quote: |
You're only able to forward mail to a custom domain or an e-mail address that ends in hotmail.com, msn.com, or live.com. Please try again.

| Well currently I am unable to explain why others cannot forward. I have installed nothing and changed no settings, its very strange. Since I am unable to reproduce the error so I cannot help you with that. This post seems to be hit or miss, depending on Hotmail/Windows Live. You can check to see if your hotmail allows forwarding by the method listed above. you can also use gmails "add another account" to check to see if hotmail allows pop3 access. pop3.live.com and port 995, also enable SSL support.

What do you mean with "those that have hotmail accounts without POP3 access"? i've a regular hotmail account and didn't have any problem setting it up. | | Offline

| older hotmail accounts allow pop3 access, newer ones do not. i am unsure about the status of the forwarding, since i created my account last week and can forward my email and others cannot. | | Offline

| Hotmail has gone through (and continues to go through) several evolutions. I've had Hotmail accounts with free POP3 access and forwarding capabilities but my current account has neither. When it comes to integrating Hotmail and BlackBerry I'm afraid you're stuck with a case by case "try it and see" approach. | | Offline

I created a recent account to figure a workaround, but apparently their settings are not standard from account to account. | | Offline

I might have it but don't know where to look for it.
Getting back to Siths advice, I have created the hotmail account on my BB, have the icon on the BB desktop, when I click it all I get is 'no messages'. I can't send from my hotmail/BB and don't receive. | | Offline

| I've had a free Hotmail account for over 6 years and I can't get this to work. I get the same error message You're only able to forward mail to a custom domain or an e-mail address that ends in hotmail.com, msn.com, or live.com. Please try again. Perhaps your carrier has something to do with it. I'm T-Mobile. I recall a year or so back that Yahoo would integrate with T-Mobile Blackberrys and Hotmail would integrate with Cingular ones. That was for non-premium accounts. Yahoo opened up, probably to meet the GMail threat. Perhaps Hotmail never saw the need to loosen the restrictions, choosing to continue to leverage their brand rather than compete head-on with free access. | | Offline

| I don't know if this works, because I don't use any free email services, but if you have Verizon, maybe you could try this VZW Blackberry Web Client..?? It says you can integrate hotmail onto your bb. Verizon Wireless - BlackBerry Email System Requirements | | Offline
