Delays now 1 hour and growing. If this is attributed to RIM's network expansion, they need to find a better way to manage it.

RIM redeems themselves if the "upgrade" is due to adding html email capabilities. Let's see that next OS.

My BIS is running fine in California, but my phone wakes at 7AM PST so might have just missed the party.

Sure they have downtime, they can't get email when their Treo's are rebooting for no reason all the time.

Interesting to note, during all this, RIM stock is up 4.39% for this day, at this point.

I am still getting it in spurts, not on a regular schedule.

Seems like the new agency's and Wall street don't see to care much about this outage. Is it because it's only BIS and not BES, or are BB outages becoming too common? I resent service book hours ago and still nothing. Some mail is coming through but hours late. AT&T NYC.

@ imcdona - Nope I'm on tmobile hehe (late response I know!)

I had the same problem, I was affected hardcore when I was trying to send service books to my phone. They now have updated 3x in the last hour =)

I called tmobile, and they knew of a problem on their side.. Not sure about other carriers. Just around the time I hung up with them was when I started getting all my service book updates (1pm mst)

It just shows us that we still need our trusty PCs hah! Phones aren't infallible.. yet :(

I wouldn't call two outages in 10 months common (I think it's up to 4-5 in 4 years). Perhaps it's just me. *shrug*

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

And it was never an actual outage... it was data maintenance that slowed down data over the networks. Personally i never lost BIS or BES access, but apps that required BIS internet were affected on my end. (ie Telenav)

I am using IMAP and swore that I had to indicate SSL encryption and a couple of other things within BIS.

BIS used to require server information, now, for the top 100 or so email providers (excluding hotmail) the information is stored.

I have to disagree. As a law enforcement system admin here in NYC, seeing blackberry go down now once a week is becoming common and dangerous. We use BB to advise personnel of incidents around the city. If our radio system went down once a week, heads would roll. I've been BB's biggest supporter around here and now everyone is shaking their heads at me. RIM's closed mouth about these failures is inexcusable. Most of us are on BES but outside agency's users are sent "jobs" via *.blackberry.net. Looks like we are going to re-evaluate the way we do things.

once a week for an outage? a) not even an outage today. b) its happened an average of 1 time per year over the last 5 years c) make sure in your assessment you do not fault RIM for carrier outages (which happen far more frequently).

good luck on switching to another service for instant email and security

Yes, let's blame America's network, AT&T, it's much funner! Been having issues since the outage report a little over a week ago, in getting BIS mail slow. I'm actually used to some delay when using Verizon's BIS services some time back, and was happily surprised when America's network (ATT) emails showed up instantly! Not the case, battery pulls and service book pushes up the a-hole, and nothing helps.

Should have listened to the weatherman last night... Thought I remember him predicting a RIM outage, but he lies every day, so why would I listen to him?

AT&T Seattle.

Default Still out? - 02-21-2008, 08:12 AM

Just thought I would push this to the top...
Actually, I am still out in Oregon, sent service books, still not recieving emails, not sure what else to do besides call Sprint? I would rather solve my own issues before I have to do that, but I suppose they could tell me if its me or there is still nothing happening?

In Northern NJ w/Tmo I'm getting emails, etc. But I have that expired certificate issue. It keeps popping up on my screen. It doesn't seem to be impacting my ability to send/receive but every time something wants to pop up (like a calendar reminder) the certificate interferes and prevents the alert from sounding.
