Im currently trying to set up up BES 3.6 on exchange 2003 but am having no successs, and was wondering if you could lead me in the right direction.

I have been told not to set up bes on the exchange server but on a remote server on the same domain.

I have tried this approach but with no luck as i keep getting a error message of MAPIINATALIZE(80040005)

Is this because i dont have microsoft exchange 2003 system manager loaded on the remote server.

Also on the remote server i have loaded Microsoft SQL 2000 when going through the installation i getting to the end it says that a database has not been created.


Any help will be greatly appreciated

More than likely. You need to use the Exchange 2003 install CDs to do a custom install on the remote server, installing only the tools (Exchange Manager.) Then install SP1 for Exchange 2003 if you're running SP1 on your Exchange server.

I'm not sure why you're getting the database error, unless it's a permissions issue where it can't login to your SQL database for some reason.

Do you have mapi loaded on the remote server using as BES?
