Talking Another tale of a waterberry

Please Login to Remove!

I am posting this in the hopes that it will help anyone who runs into this situation.

I was working on the phone wiring in my sister and brother-in-law's house and some cable was up in the beams of the basement. I was reaching between two water pipes and my arm press against one of the pipe fittings came apart and cold water gushed everywhere. It was pouring all over me and everything around me. It took almost a minute to get the water shut off.

My BB was on my belt in a leather holster. Once I came to my senses, I had m wife pull it out and put it on the table out of the way. I could see that it was on, but I didn't have time to check it out.

After we got the water up I picked up the BB and checked it over. As I press buttons it was behaving very erratically. I promptly removed the battery and let it sit for several hours.

When I tried it again it was better, but everytime I pressed the jog wheel the would appear and it would act as if I had pressed it. I again removed the battery and let it sit.

I decided to check out the forum and search to see if others had the same issue and if there were any ways to help repair. I found one of Mark's posts that talked about drying the BB under a lamp or an oven.

I completely took apart the unit and then wiped any excess water off. I used my wife's hair dryer on low to dry out all the components and then carefully put the unit back together.

I am happy to report that it works perfectly.

So everyone can add the hair dryer to the list of useful drying techniques.
