Backlight on 7520

I can adjust the backlight on the 7520 for up to 2 minutes. However, whenever I access anything on the Blackberry (dial a number, go to address book, click an icon) the screen is dark and I have to depress the button to increase the backlight so I can see. Is there any way on this model that the backlight can come on as soon as you begin any function on the phone?
