Default cingular and unlocking

I've been a Cingular customer now for 1 month. My BB was bought through our corp. sales rep. and I guess my acct is corp.

I called Customer Support to find out if they would unlock my 7290 since I plan to travel to Italy for work.

To my suprise, (after reading many threads here), they submitted the request on Wednesday, said it would take 5-10 business days to get the code from RIM.

Based off what I've read here, it would seem I should not get my hopes up. Has anyone had luck w/ Cingular?

Here's to hoping! You may want to check out Bongo Wireless www.bongowireless.com just in case you need to follow another avenue...

Yeah, I called and spoke to them. $100 for the unlock, and then $20+ for shipping each way. (Declaring the BB is worth only $20 to Canadian customs to avoid a 7% tax seems a little like fraud.) So add on another $21. That makes the deal ~$200. Ouch. I'd really like to dodge that bullet.

But yes, point well taken.
