Like many of you, who aren’t a part of a major corporation and are using the BB for ‘private’ use, I was tired of recipients receiving the mailbox full message as a result of the forwarding I had in place to forward all mail I received to my blackberry.
Also like many of your I have gmail. The problem is, if you set a filter to trash all incoming forwarded mail to gmail with attachments, and a second filter to forward all incoming mail to your BB, gmail will not apply any sort of logical follow through. It will both trash a copy of the email of the attachment and forward a copy to the BB email account.
After some searching I found the solution.
1) set your primary email to forward to your gmail account (preferably at the server, ie: through cpanel’s forward if you’re relying on someone else to do all the work for your site/email)
2) in gmail, go to settings and filters and create new filter.
3) Type your primary email in the “To:” field and “-has:attachment” in the “Has the words:” field. Do not click “Has attachment” (obvious but I’ll state it just incase.
4) Click next step and enter your blackberry address in the “Forward it to:” field.
5) Create filter
Now, every time email hits your primary account say
![[email address]](http://www.blackberryforums.com/?emailimage=3c80ce9e54a53f4fe77508e1aa6d6906)
, you’re mail server will forward a copy to gmail, gmail will then only forward to your blackberry if there is not an attachment, and you’re account will take a lot longer to fill.
Just thought I’d offer the solution I found, as deleting and such is fine, and reconciling and all that, I just didn’t want any emails with attachments even touching the blackberry web account.
