Default RIM privacy issues in Europe

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Everyone,

Does anyone know anything about a case in Europe where RIM was subpoenaed to release information regarding a company's private email?

I have rolled out 200 devices here at my corp and now I am hearing rumors that we may jerk them due to privacy issues. Apparently there is some concern that our email correspondence could be made available if a subpoena was issued.

Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't heard anything about that but it wouldn't suprise me. I recently worked for the american division of a major french company and we went through some preparatory training related to audits and retention times and we covered some of this stuff. We were told quite specifically that once subpoena's are involved they can take whatever they want. Nothing is private in a public corporation.

In fact part of the reason we were working on this was that if you couldn't provide what the subpoena wanted in a reasonable timeframe then they would come and take the servers and find it themselves. Privacy is to protect you from competitors, not from the government.. at least in the US anyway.
