Default Official RIM Forums at "Blackberry Owners Lounge" - 04-01-2008, 01:17 PM

Got an email a bit ago from Blackberry Owners Lounge about some forums thy opened up: BlackBerry® Support Community Forums - BlackBerry® Support Community Forums

I quickly registered and posted this:
RIM, why? - Welcome - BlackBerry® Support Community Forums
Quote:
Admins, et. al.,

Will there be RIM involvement in these discussion forums?

If not, then why pull users away from established user forum communities like blackberryforums.com and pinstack.com?

I would encourage either RIM to respond to my question in a positive and constructive manner, or I encourage users to _NOT_ use or post to this forum.

Thanks,
Mike
I'm posting this in the General thread here because I feel the most of us check the the General forum before anything else, and I feel pretty strongly that RIM is trying to steal user-base from the established community forums.

So, please, for what it might be worth, follow the link above and let them know how you feel.

I won't be going there! Other than to check it out! BBF is by far the best community for help with BB

Hey All,

Wanted to pass this website on as it appears it just came up today. Maybe now we can get some of those questions finally answered from official RIM posters

I heard these forums were put up so that RIM can provide answers to questions without the need for us to call them - though their tech support people are pretty good.

The funny thing is that many of the questions/posts here(BBF) are answered by "official RIM posters."

FWIW...they (RIM...not their new forum), IMO, do not provide as much support as these forums do for silly things or even major things. I posted over there on my Yahoo! mail issue...for the exact question breaker had for them...in hope someone from that company is reading the posts. If they are not going to participate...no point in having a forum that is going to turn to a zoo of idiotic question like the AT&T support forums. So, with that said...I'll opt to stay here.

what many have state on here, (and there) is true, but that forum is ANOTHER alternative. It might do as well as here, it might not, might even do better, it might not even come close and shut down.

it just offers an alternative for people. I'm sure not EVERYONE wants to be a member on BFF.

So I guess, why the hell not?

No problem here with RIM offering another touchpoint to their customers. I've come to expect discussion group capabilities on my vendor websites (hint... hint... verizon). I'd say it's long overdue.

With that said, bbf is, and always will be, the place I start my search and the place I leave with an answer.

I live in KS, so I mean it when I say: BBF-there's no place like home!

I signed up over there (and see several BBF members there, too - even one in disguise).

So far I really don't like the format. Maybe someday it will grow up to be a real forum

Or they should just point them here.

I checked it out. Was very unimpressed especially learning Lithium is actually running the site.
