What'd you think?

Worth the $20/year?

Thanks,

Why would I subscribe when there are plenty of free alternatives out there, like berry bloglines as one example, plus, you subscribed yesterday, and on the same day make 2 posts about this software..

Seems a bit like spam..

I tried the free ones and in the end I was more than happy to pay the $20. This program is GREAT. It's quick to sync up, easy to configure online, and you don't need to have GPRS service in order to read the feeds. I usually just sync up on my way to the subway and then use the program to read the news while I'm on the train.

"Anyone using FreeNews?" -- Anyone think Luco might have a financial interest in this?

"What'd you think?" -- I actually thought it was above average relative to the other readers on the market, though I didn't really care for the interface, and ...

"Worth the $20/year?" -- IMHO, no; I'm not sure that it's even worth $20 for a one-time purchase.

I use Bloglines.com on the web - you can view the mobile version (non-frames) at http://www.bloglines.com/mobile.

Free, as in, doesn't cost anything.

FreeNews is the best news reader out there because it doesn't revert to the slow BB browser when you request more information. It retrieves all the information in text mode, which is much faster and easier.

Quit grumbling about 20 bucks!

Heh, fancy that, an NNTP app that respects the NNTP protocol!

No-one's grumbling about 20 bucks. The point was they call it FREEnews, then charge for it.

I've also been impressed with FreeNews, and I was skeptical about the $20/yr thing too. However I have already saved more then that off my cell phone bills because I'm not paying for air time the entire time I'm checking my news.

It works great...notice how everybodies issue with it is simply the fact that it is not free and not about the actual application?

My advice to them? Change your name so everyone stops complaining!
