Today as I packed the car after a summer vacation....I left the BB 7290 on the roof of the Toureg...a few miles down the road, thanks to a Skintight case, I heard something up on the roof, thought something in the Tulle rack was settling in after being packed tight...then it hit me.

My three week old BB7290, bought by my mother in law as a 40th birthday gift was on the ground and meeting a few goodyears and micheliens.

After running back about 100 years...there it was, bleeding and wounded.

1. Screen is fracured in many places.

2. Body is dented, but still solid.

3. Battery fit back in and there was "power" but no screen function. The red light has blinked a few times.

4. housing is ok, but the unit is not in good shape.

My question is: can I get all my data off this unit? Is it on my cingular sim card? I just finished organizing all the addresses and phone numbers and getting work and home email working with BES and Email push....

Advise for the mourning....

Not sure about Cingular, But as far as I know all BB's store their information in the handheld itself, not the SIM card.


I'll turn my BB off for a few minutes of silence from one BB to another.

i put a black band around my bb in memory of a fallen brother.

I've asked that all flags be half staff next week in memory.

Unless you have specifically directed your saved information to the SIM card, then it is all in the database of the BB itself. Unless you backed it up via the Desktop software, it looks like you you may have a weekend project.

I'd see if the desktop software will recognize it, even though it's wounded.

cbotd is correct. hook it up to desktop manager to see if it will be detected. if so, pull the data off and get a replacement. if not, then you may be able to replace some of the hardware and get it to boot.

We are are sorry to inform you that your son died in a tragic automobile accident. I would like to tell you that your son did not suffer, however a careless human left your son on the roof of his car. Your son tried to make it to saftey however a direct hit head first fall in to the asphalt made this effort mute. After conatct with the road he made an effort to run for cover but the large amount of cars made this impossible. Madam I am sorry for your loss.

Yes, but alas my dear friends, RIM will be more than happy to sell you another if you feel you deserve it after the torture and abuse your first BB child must have endured at the hands of a careless and unloving father who left his first and only child on the roof of the car while driving to a vacation. You should be placed in a 6 x 8 cell for the rest of your natural life wihout food or water......or at least have to pay a $200 fine to the RIM corporation as a punishment.
