Default Bluetooth and Pairing an 8830 - 04-10-2008, 06:59 PM

I have an 8830 (Verizon) and tried to pair with the system in a 2008 Jaguar but they could not read each other. Blackberry says it could not find any device.

HELP!

check your jaguar service manual or call the service center to see if blackberry is a supported device...if so, maybe they can help you pair the two.

I have it paird in my BMW. the first time I paired the two I had to go through a funky process to upload the address book. After that it was easy. Someone at the dealership should be able to help.

I don't think this has anything to do with Verizon. IMHO, I actually think this is between the BlackBerry and the vehicle. The Jaguar service center should be able to do this for you, I don't understand why they're giving you such a hassle. Did you try to contact your sales person and see if he/she can help you do anything?

Yes I did. And I have known the guy for years. He looked into it and told me to call Verizon for a software update, which I did, and they had no idea what I was talking about!!!

If your salesman looked into it he should be able to provide a link or an update name/title or code number or something that you could give to Verizon pointing them in the right direction. Just seems like you are going in a circle.

I am guessing there is more to the story, but it sure doesn't sound like the customer service I would expect from a Jaguar dealer.

Not that I have had any personal experience....

Decided to go down to my local Verizon store as they told me their tech could pair the phone. Well guess what, he could not do it either. So they have ordered me a brand new Blackberry 8830 to replace my 11 month old one as they think their is a Bluetooth problem inside the phone.

We shall see what happens next week and I shall keep you posted.

Have you been successful pairing the phone to any other bluetooth devices like a headset?

Well, if they are getting you a replacement, no need to worry then, unless of course you can't pair the new one with your car either.

Thanks guys. Maybe if the new BlackBerry won't pair with my new Jaguar XKR, the dealer will give me a new car!

Thanks very much for the web link.

As the new BlackBerry is "in the mail" and due to arrive Tuesday, I will wait for that to happen and then go down to my Verizon dealer (they are going to copy all my info from the old to the new BlackBerry) and then they are going to try and pair the new one to my car. If that does not work, then I will follow the intructions.

Again, thanks for your help!

Wow...that's what i call customer service (above the customer's expectations). I use to give personal assistence like that for my clients when I worked for T-Mobile (even provided personal BB training sessions once a week). Great way to gain trust and referals!!

LATEST UPDATE:

Received my new BlackBerry 8830 this afternoon. Got it all set up and transfered my data to it from my desktop. Guess what? Tried to pair the new device with my car and NO LUCK!

Will go to Verizon in the next day or so and if they can't do it, I will demand a new car this time!

I would try pairing your bb to your wife's minivan and try pairing her phone to your car. Eliminate the possible failure points.
