i am in charge of updating my bosses Blackberry with name/phone/email. is there a way to do this online or on the computer without having to type each name into the blackberry itself.

i have never used a blackberry before and I am stumped

Desktop Manger will help you sync contacts, load applications and do backups and restore. We could help more if we knew what Model BB and if your boss is using BB Web Client (BWC) or BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES)!

she has a BB 7230 and no desktop software. i could convince her to buy some software if i needed to.. What do you think. all she wants is email, name and numbers

The phone comes with software included on an installation CD.

If your boss' information is in Outlook, it can be synched over using the Desktop Manager rather easily when the phone is in the office.

If you want to do it remotely you'd need your own BES server or move to a 3rd party managed Exchange/BES service.

I am another newbie, and I must say the sync process for my 7290 is great. I took my phone numbers out of my old cell phone and put them into Outlook and then once I got all my numbers / addresses / appointments updated, I uploaded them to the BB.

As it has been said before, the software comes with the BB and I love that part, even for me, it was easy to set up. If you/she is actively using the calendar in outlook, you can sync it up on a regular basis, othewise you only need to do it when you change something. The process will take new or changes that have been made on both platforms and match them up.

It also happens almost automatically when you plug your BB into a USB port to recharge it.

i was able to find the software... When I update it, does the computer download it to the BB or do I need to connect it ala a palm pilot?

there is a usb cable that connects directly to the bb. ASk her to let you hold onto/see everything that came with the bb. Then read thru the documentation. If outlook is avail offline you should be able to synch up the data using the intelli-synch utility in desktop manager.

ok. she does not use outlook, but i can syn our rolodex with outlooke. igot the usb connection, what next?
