Default Blackberry from ebay

Please Login to Remove!

I just won a Nextel Blackberry 7510 off of ebay and am wondering how difficult it will be to convert it to my plan. I am currently a Nextel subscriber, will it be as simple as inserting my SIM card and upgrading to a data plan? I'm not sure if SIM cards differ by phone model, my current phone is the Motorola i530. It will be a week or so before the phone arrives, so I'd like to aquire anything else I will need to be up and running with it when it comes. Thanks in advance for any insights.

Cool

I believe that you can use the SIM card from the i530. I have a 7510 myself. Also, once Nextel knows you have a BB they require a data plan. I would suggest that you get the Unlimited BlackBerry Email and Web which is $44.99 per month on top of your regular service plan. Well worth it though, last month I used over 9,000 kb of data. Here is the number to BlackBerry Web Support: 866-265-8305. Keep this handy and cal them about anything related to BB. Don't call Customer Care unless its about the bill or regular plan. You should have no problem.

Also check out the FAQ post, there are a lot of great tips in there about using your BB. If you have question on your 7510, send me a PM or pin me. PIN is in the sig. Welcome to the club!!

Talking *important*

If the BlackBerry comes with a sim card, I would just leave that one in the phone. There are known issues associated with putting a non-BlackBerry sim card into the BlackBerry. Something that you would want to consider is getting your address book from your i530 to the BlackBerry. The easiest way to do this is to set up a Nextel Address Book on nextel.com. After you set that up, you would need to import the contacts from your i530 into the Nextel Address Book and export the contacts into a BlackBerry Text file. After you export the contacts, you can then put them into the BlackBerry with the ASCII importer/exporter through the Intellisync program on the Desktop Manager. You MUST export the contacts from the Nextel Address Book BEFORE you switch into the BlackBerry or they will all be deleted from the Nextel Address Book. If you need any help with this, you can call 1-800-639-6111. They have great customer service and are really helpful with these issues. Feel free to e-mail me or you can just reply to this message if you have any other questions. I have helped many, many, many people switch over into BlackBerry phones. Have a great day!

This number is for Customer Service: 800-639-6111

This number is for BB Support: 866-265-8305

If you have a BlackBerry which number would you call? I always call BB Suport, unless it has to do with billing.

Nextel has changed it around so that when you call 1-800-639-6111, when you type in your phone number that it will recognize that you have a BlackBerry and it sends you straight to the department that I am a technical support agent for, BlackBerry Support. Have a nice day!

They just set up it up on Monday that it recognizes your telephone number as being linked to a BlackBerry. It still has a few kinks here and there. Not everything is perfect when it starts....

Yeah. Teir 1 deals with everything BUT the BlackBerry. Before they changed things on Monday, they use to send call after call to us. They never told us the customers name, phone number, or issue so we had to ask them again. People really do get frustrated over that, and I don't blame them!

That's the way we pull up accounts. We can use account numbers and other pieces of info, but it's SO much simpler just pulling it up that way. I've had a lot of people yell at me for asking for their phone number. They tell me they are tired of giving it out. I'm use to it now.

Exactley! I wish it would pull up what you typed in on our screen as soon as we get the call. That would help out a lot!
