I recently deleted many of the categories on my handheld. Afterward, I thought I had lost a bunch of contacts because in the Find Screen, typing letters was acting very strange...typing "Jo" would list all of the appropriate contacts, but typing "Jon" would make them all go away (including "Jonathan Shorr," for example). And it progressed quickly from there. This was last night, and by today, now i type any letter and i get "No contacts found". All of my contacts are there, but they aren't being found. I checked to make sure I don't have any category filter set presently, and i don't. I sure could use some help - scrolling down to every contact takes forever (even with the alt-key).

I have BB 8703e and version 4.1.0.377 and I am set up with BES through an exchange server host.
