Default impact of moving to a new bb phone - 05-15-2008, 11:40 AM

Hi All,
New to the forums other than the occasional lurker. I currently have an 8700c on ATT. i am thinking about replacing it with a curve on the same provider. My questiosn is around the change in phones and what that means to my BES server. If I move the SIM from the old to the new phone, other than activating it with the server, will I need to do anything else, or will my companies bb server see it as the same device and just resync everything once I activate?

Thanks for any feedback and I'm glad to be a part of the community!

Your new PIN will be updated on the BES after you activate again.
If you use the switch device wizard in desktop manager all of your data will be already installed on your device before you try to re-activate.

Other than that, unless you are restricted from activation somehow, there won't be any difference.

If you use BIS e-mail as well you will need to login and update your new PIN of your device and push your service books again.

If you are on a BES, that means its a device used for work. I would check with your IT department that you are allowed to activate a new BB.

Cheers.

I'm not sure what the advantage to that would be unless the BES admin has set up EA to not push all data. If you have wireless backup enabled there's really no reason to bother with the Switch Device Wizard IMO.

Not necessarily. My personal BB is on BES.

Still, the OP should check with the employer if this is a personal purchase. Some companies don't allow personal devices.
