Smile US Blackberry Sim Card Size - 05-16-2008, 05:22 PM

Dear All,

Quick question, I rather foolishly bought a US blackberry off eBay to use in the UK but it's arrived and my UK simcard won't fit, its too wide.

Is there anyway round this or am i just been very thick?

Thanks for your help!

Paul

Paul, I have never seen that asked.

Are you trying to place the SIM card in the SIM card slot, or in the SD Media Card slot?

Are you sure you're not trying to fit your SIM card into the SD card slot??

Wirelessly posted

Sim cards are a universal size. People use local Sims when travelling. I can't see what device you have as I'm on the wap but both slots are under the battery.

Haha thanks for the responses, are you totally sure? I'm pretty positive its the sim card slot, it has a small little metal housing which clips over the top. Much in the same way my Nokia N95 does. I'm on the UK network T-Mobile, the sim basically is a 6-point sim i think, does the 8800 take 4 pin or am I been really dim.

Can someone post the exact dimensions of their sims if poss? then i can get this thing nailed and stop being so livid about having just shelled out 40pounds in customs charges!

thanks guys!!

The routine SIM is 15mm wide x 25mm in length, with one corner cut.

A SIM card is universal. They are all exactly the same size.
You are trying to put the SIM card into the microSD card slot.

Just to clarify here, and I'm absolutely positive, you basically take the back off the 8800 and the sim card slot is directly underneath the silver embossed square on the back of the phone, above the battery.

This is really really odd, can any confirm the exact size of UK sim cards and whether they've experienced this?

cheers guys you're top dollar!

No.. that is the SD Micro card slot.

The SIM slot is not very visible. It's to the left of what you think is the SIM slot
