| How Much Data is Enough? Please Login to Remove! Hey there, I'm relatively new to the BB world but as a long term mobile user I'm impressed, and have already moved from an 8700r to an 8300!
Currently I'm set up with a generic mobile data package with Rogers. I am thinking of going with a BB data package and would like some advice from actual data users to get a sense of how much data is enough- my understanding is that Rogers' estimates are low.
Although not a heavy email user (30-40/day), I do like to surf (I'm used to having wifi enabled devices with access at both home and work (90% of my day) so will want to access the web regularly.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Garth

| Hello,
Well the good thing about Blackberry is that the data is compressed. If i were you I would get the 25 mg plan for now and use it for a month and see how much data you actually use. Heres the thing, even if you go over the first month they wont charge you. Just call them and explain that this is fairly new to you, and they will adjust the plan accordingly for your needs. | | Offline

| what you can do is call up ask for the 25mb plan, and be nice... ask to see if they will give you at least 1 month unlimited data to see how much you are going to use and then when your 3 months are up, calculate your average and then choose the right plan for you... thats what i did in the beginning. | | Offline

| 25 mb seems a little low for the amount of data you seem to use. I used over 100mb my first month and I use my bb now more than ever

| Thanks for the info. It's been helpful. The snag with rogers is 25MB for $60 or 1 GIG for $100 . . . nothing in between!
I think I'll go with the 4 MB or 7 MB and get a month or two free, watch it for that time frame and then adjust accordingly . . .
Again Thanks.
Garth

I am on a 50 MB plan for $65/mo. Again, I am not sure if this plan still exists as an option or not, I signed up for it last fall.

Garth | With the G3 blackberry/iphone coming to Rogers this summer I'm sure we will see a big improvement to the rogers data plans (I hope). | | Offline

| Congratulations! I'm on the $60/month plan with my company and wish that I had been given the $100/month one :(
Unless, it's unlimited. It's never enough! USA plans are much better Quote:

| I do minimal surfing on my Curve but do a fair amount of BES/BIS email and clock in about 7~8MB of data/month.

| I use JiveTalk regularly, BB Messenger occasionally, and surf the Internet quite often (stuck at bus stops, downtime at work, etc.) and last month was my highest at 23.78 mb. | | Offline

| Yea I use BBM, Viigo, Weather Bug Direct, JiveTalk, 3 Email accounts, and a lot of web browsing (Opera and BB Browser). I've been averaging 50-75 MB a month.

I can't believe there are carriers that don't offer unlimited data. There should be a law against that. Hopefully that is something that they're working on for the future.

| I think Cory was referring to the fact that the Canadian carrier(s) mentioned earlier in this thread don't have unlimited data like US plans. Though from my meager knowledge, T-Mobile USA is the only one with a truly unlimited data plan, anyway. | | Offline
