Thanks John,
I copied the links into an e-mail to myself, tapped on the links in the e-mail on my Blackberry and everything is working fine (after ignoring an "uncaught exception" error).
I agree. Great applications!!!
I skipped the oportunity to upgrade my 8700 to a Curve and am holding out for the Bold, which if you believe the Rogers release date forum, should be out at Rogers' stores next week. Should I hold off downloading third party applications to the Bold (I know I am getting ahead of myself), such as these short cuts, until proven on the Bold's new operating system?

I would at least give a couple days and check here to see what other uses might be experiencing. I am betting any app written for 4.2+ will be ok on the Bold.

Has anyone tried these shortcuts on the Bold?

Ancst, one of the moderators on BBF just tested all three for me... you are in good shape.

Thanks for reminding me of this.

Not having heard back from JSanders as to whether or not the Forum shortcuts worked on the Bold, I sent a private message to JSanders, and received the above response last evening. I have loaded the shortcuts on my Bold with the shipping Rogers OS and can confirm that they work and have not caused any problems with the OS. In fact when I loaded them on my previous device with OS 4.2 I received a general exception error which I ignored, with no consequences. On loading on the Bold with OS 4.6 I received no such error message.

Default Shortcuts on Bold - 09-03-2008, 05:29 PM

The only issue(minor) I have noticed with the Bold is that the first "B" in the icon for the shortcut is not visable. It may be an issue because it does not show up against the black background on the default Roger's themes (there are only two).
Are there alternative icons available for the shortcuts on the Bold?

Yep, your background is likely the issue. We don't have alternative icons for that, but I might look into it... thanks for the notice.

Sorry if mentioned already and just FYI JS:

I dl BBForum app and after installation I got:

Uncaught Exception: Module with Handle [9732] and index [0] has no application entry point.

and for BBWAP:

Uncaught Exception: Module with Handle [10041] and index [0] has no application entry point.

Both seem to be working fine and I think you are already aware of the icons.

Curious: why does wifi need to be on for the download?

For some reason, when I click the link on my Bold for the wap site of BlackBerry Forums, I get the full HTML site. Once in the full HTML site, if I click WAP at the top of the page, the full HTML site still comes up. I have had these shortcuts for many months and I could get into the WAP site until recently.
I suspect that I may have inadvertenly changed a browser setting, but I do not know what setting to change back so that I can get the wap page for the BlackBerry Forums.
I am on Rogers with OS .216
