Default Unable to determine IP address from host name (squid/2.5.STABLE11)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I can access my own website from a PC or a laptop with no problems. However when I try to view the site using my 8310 Curve I get:

"unable to determine IP address from host name (squid/2.5.STABLE11)"

The site has been built to be able to recognise when an XDA/PDA/BB is being used to gain access and my web master thinks that this may be a BB setting issue rather than how the site has been modified for BB access.

I am not so certain but does anybody out there know the answer please?

The address of the site is:

Welcome To Integrity Market Reform Advice Limited

Many thanks in advance for advice.

John

I can view it on my BB -- no errors. Are you on BES? If so, maybe the company has squid proxy for caching content?

squid : Optimising Web Delivery

I don't know much about it, but that's what comes to mind from the error. Hopefully someone else will know more.

Semi-useless reply, but it views okay on my 8800 as well.

No I am using the BlackBerry Internet Service. The site is hosted by UK2Net. Could this be something to do with the way it is hosted by them? (Seems doubtful as access by PC/Laptop and other peoples' PDAs is OK.)

Yes, that seems unlikely. Have you tried changing the BB brower emulation? If you have it set for Blackberry brower, try changing it to IE. I'd try all the options and see if one works.

Hallo Daphne

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried all of the emulation modes and got nowhere. Does anybody else have any advice?

Regards

another semi useless reply, but it works for me also. Might help you eliminate some stuff though. I'm on the o2 BIS, browser emulation mode is set to Blackberry.

Have you tried resetting your browser to the default configuration to see what difference (if any) it would make?
