If you are on a BlackBerry Enterprise service, you must have permission from your Admin. If you are BIS, you were looking in the correct place. Options > Security > General Options.

Options > security > general settings, highlight 'enabled' hit menu key and select change option then select disabled, you will probably be asked to enter your password before the change takes effect.

Foxglove - most likely the BlackBerry has an IT Policy on it forcing the password.

thank you ALL for your help ,that's what i have on the screen:
Security
password>enable
Security time out >30 mn
Lock handheld upon hoste.....>no
IT policy name <none>
last updated

when i hit menu key in line :password enable,i got:
1/hide menu
2/change password
3/verify security software
4/save
5/close
As you can see,i haven't :change option>disabled
And when hit on change password,i got:
enter password
new password
verify new password
If somebody has an idea
As you can see i got an old version and i want to update it,so if i have understood, you can't update software with password "on" or "enable".
Thanks and salutations.
