Default Trackball Material

Just curious if anybody knows what sort of material the BB trackballs are made out of?

I tried brushing mine with a toothbrush to clean it and noticed all this powdery residue on my screen.

Not sure. Just plastic, I think.

Rather than trying to whiten it, I'd say just order a new one. They're not that expensive.
