Default Wi-Fi & High Speed Internet

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings:

T-Mobile shows on their website the 8120 as Wi-Fi and High Speed Internet capable as some of its features. But the Curve shows only Wi-Fi. I realize with Wi-Fi I can connect to the internet as long as I'm within range of wireless network.

As far as a mobile device is concerned, isn't Wi-Fi and High Speed Internet kind of the same thing? If I wanted to use the 8120 or the Curve as a modem for my laptop, would one be better than the other?

Thanks for any feedback.

They both have the same features connections-wise. They will both work the same in that regard.

Wirelessly posted

So what's with the high speed internet on the 8120? Just a marketing thing? Or is there really some difference between high speed internet and wi-fi. Thanks for your reply John Clark.

IMHO, I don't think it is really going to be that fast. You will be limited by the device process or and memory, plus most websites still are not optimized for mobile users. It should be faster than EDGE for sure, just how much is hard to say.
