Default Getting an email address

Please Login to Remove!

My grandfather just bought a BB 8330 but doesn't currently have an email address. What are his options? Doesn't BB offer free email addresses? What's their format? i.e @???

Wirelessly posted

Hello.

The username@blackberry.net email address is free to use. Some carriers alter the address for example my carriers blackberry email address is is useename@o2.co.uk. Bare in mind that there is no online web account for these addresses.

Other options are free yahoo or gmail accounts. Sign up for one on the computer and then add the details to the blackberry email account set up. With these accounts you have an online web account also and copies of emails can be kept on there.

Hope that helps.

Smile u should hanve BB services

dear if u have BB handheld it desn't allow ur emails on ur handheld. for that u should have BB services e.g.e BIS or BES. BIS is the service that is provided by ur Carrier (services provider) e.g Ufone in my case, that allow ur handheld to communicate with that server on which ur email account is present. when u have apperes EDGE or GPRS in capital then go to ur carreir site e.g www.ufone.black.berry.com in my case then adde ur working email address and ur free POP or IMAPI email address e.g Yhaoo. Gmail. Hotmail if its Paid.

I do not recommend using the carrier supplied email address, You open yourself up to a lot of SPAM as it is unfiltered. Plus the only way to read the mail to that account is to use the BB. Whenever there is a BB outage you cannot read the mail. And finally, you don't won the address so when/if you change carriers, you cannot take the address to your new carrier.

As mentioned above the best solution in my mind is either gmail or yahoo.

I'm a realtor and have 4 different email address's. I forwarded them all to an account I opened in gmail (It's in gmail settings). I went into my BIS account and removed all email accounts listed, leaving only gmail. So now, all my email is picked up by gmail and is then sent to my bb.

I do the exact same thing using Yahoo. THese setups give you instant e-mail and are very straight forward. Gmail or Yahoo is the way to go IMHO.
