Unhappy Blackberry Keeps sending Submit Cmd

Please Login to Remove!

This is the second blackberry 8830 I have owned and both experienced the same problem. I am wondering if anybody else has found a fix to this common issue ( hoping I am not the unlucky one ). Basicly the phone will randomly issue the select command as if I was pressing the scroll wheel down. It does this especially while text messaging and scrolling on the wheel. It will send the command sometimes even if the phone is locked or just sitting without being handled.

Please help me address this issue. I love my blackberry and just need to resolve this one small flaw.

Welcome to BBF Ra1Lz! Have you tried a battery pull yet? 1st step to take if device is having problems? - BlackBerryFAQ
Also, do you usually store your BlackBerrys in your pocket? I have a bad feeling about this...

I always store my blackberry in my pocket and I've already tried a battery pull several times.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

To the original poster, I leave my bb in my pocket all the time and have had no problem. Yet, I do know it is discouraged.

Would you be receptive to reinstalling your OS?

I am not sure if 8830s come with the leather pouch b/c I use that all the time for my 8320 and that I'm sure helps protect the trackball even if I store 'em in my pocket... You know I really wanna help but I have a feeling this is a hardware issue BUT with this being your second device of the same make then I am totally hesitating... Could be OS? Let's see what the others have to say...

No I am willing to do whatever it takes to resolve the issue. I am also extremely careful with my phone. I do keep it in my pocket but the issue definitely seems software side rather then damage to the actual wheel.

It sounds to me like you have moisture in your keypad.

There's two other posters who have had the same exact problem I am having. They both also uses the 8830 phone and I really doubt we all have moisture in our keypad. This is also the second 8830 I've personally owned that's had this same issue. I take extremely anal with my phone and I assure you there's no moisture problems.

You don't have to drop it in the sink to get moisture in the keypad. Being in a humid area, having it in your pocket all can cause this problem. In my experience here, most of these types of issues are moisture related.

I was reading another forum and one user posted this as a fix:

"The only solution at the moment is to delete the handheld and reactivate it.
Reset was not successful."

How does one delete their handheld?
