Hello all, this is my first BB post since I got it! So I am tethering with my pearl over the at& edge network with only the unlimited data plan and not paying the $10 more for tethering. I did a search but the results were from a while back. Is the worst case scenario they add the extra $10 for tethering? After all for all they know I have no idea i needed to pay more for that? I also read some people said it's just faster if you pay the tethering? Has anyone heard anything about this, I don't mind how slow it goes as long as it works! Thanks!

well, i know tmobile allows it for free. verizon charges. att charges also. if they catch you, you're in deep sh*t. also, they might just charge you per MB without even adding on a $10 plan. then when the bill comes and you have a whopping several hundred dollar bill, you have no leverage to argue b/c you were trying to bypass their network etc. i dunno...i don't think it's worth it. i would pay the extra $10/month and not worry.

Yup you can be charged and they can determine if you were tethering just on the data flow you are using.

They would likely charge you at .01 pe KB

It will always catch up to you at somepoint. I suggest paying the $10. One month of overages is probably more than a year of paying for the service and you don't have to worry.

Alltel finally started charging me the 10 fee a couple of months ago. Probably cause I was tethered and downloading about 1GB daily .

ATT charges me $20.00 a month for tethering. Is there something I'm missing besides $10.00 extra dollars out of my pocket

i dont know about you, but here they charge .o5 per kb for teathering :S

Thanks for all your info, I was just so excited after I got it to work, I spent HOURS troubleshooting lol. I used it for about 5 minutes then decided to stop after reading your comments from my phone. I'm away and am picking up open wireless for now which is good. Hopefully that 5 minutes I used doesn't show up on my bill.
