Default Listening to .wav files forwarded from voicemail

I have a Nortel phone system here with Call Pilot messaging (voicemail). I have enabled message forwarding, then selected to forward as a .wav file but can not open the attachement from my Curve 8330. We are on version 4.0.X BES server. I read somehwere that said Blackberry stated the latest verison 4.1.5 would resolve this, does anyone know if this is the case or if not how to get this feature to work? In the voicemail system programming it asks if you want to forward the voicemail as a ".wav PCM" or a "VBK" file which I beleive is Nortel proprietary version.

Try either AudioPop or MediaPop from Virtual Views.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry 8820)

I have vonage automatically email me my voicemail, and its in wav pcm format, been using it on my 8800 and now my 8820 for over a year with no issues, however I'm on t-mobile BIS.

same for me works great with my comcast email but gmail gives unsupported format error

I got it to work with BES 4.0.6 for Exchange.

I figured it out: .wav voicemail attachments on BES 4.0.6

so I upgraded from the version of Windows Media Player 6.4 to 9.0 and also added to the BES server to be able to format additional extention such as .wav, rebooted the server and still nothing? We are running verison 4.0.6

Have you tested listening to one of the .wav files from the BES? Copy the file to the BES (like on the Desktop) and then go into the BES Server Configuration.

Click on the Attachment Server tab, then change Configuration Option to 'Test Attachment Service'.

Click the ... next to the Submit File and find the .wav file.

Click the ... next to the Output Folder and select a path (like the Desktop).

Click Submit.

Under the Output Folder you'll see a status bar. If the BES can succesfully process the .wav files, you'll see "The file was successfully converted".

Yes the file was successfully converted on the BES but still nothing on my blackberry...? My co-worker is thinking maybe with Verizon both the Media Player and BES verison need to be upgraded together?

I totally missed the Verizon part..... that could be entirely possible.

I remember when I demo'd the 8830 from Verizon and was using the 4.0.6 BES and it wouldn't play the .wav files. Seems there was something specific to the device that wouldn't play them - but they worked fine on Sprint 8830 devices (yes, I know you're using a Curve).

Might be best to contact Verizon and ask for BlackBerry support to confirm.

Here is what I was told to do on my Call Pilot 4.0 (that's what I currently am on). I was getting "text" notifications almost up to an hour after the voicemail was left and it wasn't getting hung in my exchange server either.

Here is what you need to do on the CP

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
*
Look for the host.bin file, use WordPad to open it up.

It will look like this

I just configured my Gmail account on a Verizon 8830 and today received an e-mail from Vonage with a WAV attachment of a voicemail message.
Opened the attachment and it played just fine.
I have both BEs and BIS accounts on the device (not sure of the BES version).

yeah we have someone here on vonage also that can open up .wav files but not from our BES server.....last step for us to do here is to upgrade the BES software version.

so we finally upgraded out BES (Verizon) server to 4.1.5 and now can open .wav files. RIM said that the version we were using did not support .WAV files but the new version would annd it tested good when done.

Ok I just tried this on our BES Server (for Microsoft) and it says "successfully converted", but I am still unable to play or save WAV file attachments on my Curve 8310?

I've looked into the distiller setting and WAV is checked. I've also looked at the Attachment Server and WAV is the first extension listed. What am I missing?

be careful, I was also able to test a .wav from the desktop but not on my blackberry. RIM said it was because the .wav would be shown as available but not supported, it wasn't until my upgraded BES version that I was the able to play from my Blackberry Curve
