Hi Guys,

Has anybody had a Blackberry that is stuck on displaying 1 new message?

i have another user like this. The last time it happened was to me when i had 14 new message's. Even though my messages on my Blackberry and Lotus Notes were cleared.

We have 7230's running on BES 2.2 v3.6 but i think this one has been upgraded to v4.

any help would be great!

Check your Saved Messages folder... I'd bet there is unread mail there.

ok, got the user to check his Lotus Notes Inbox, his Lotus Notes Folders and his Saved messages on his blackberry and there was no new mail.

When it happened to me, i had the same problem, no new mail anywhere!

has this happened to anyone or is there anything else to check/try?

check missed calls

you could try to send the unit another message. Once its read, it may delete this notification. I had this problem once and luckily it solved it. Also works with missed calls.

This is probably it. I know you get a mail icon for missed calls too. If not than going to you messages and marking prior opened should clear it up. I had the same problem when I got an email that had like 7 attached pictures. The BB was having problems trying to download all the information for the pics. It was just giving me a red x and saying that it couldn't download anymore data for the pics. I got the message icon stuck in the top even though I had no new messages. I am assuming that it was there because it knew that there was added information that it couldn't DL'd in the one email. But the marking prior opened thing work for me.

it is not the missed calls that is giving one new message. on v3.6 it used to show up as a 'new message' but now on v4 it shows up under the phone icon and it displays a little telephone for a misscall now.

although, correct me if i am wrong!

will try the "mark prior opened" thing out !

ok, got the user to try "Mark Prior Opened" and it did not work,

then he did "Delete Prior" and still did not work.

could be a 'hidden' filed message.
Turn off "hide filed messages"
v4: Messages => (wheel)Options =>General Options =>
[change "Hide Filed Messages" to No]

hidden messages was set to YES but changed it to NO

all his messages appeared again as NEW then he did the 'Mark Prior Opened'
then 'Delete Prior' and now he has no messages in the inbox but still says "1 new message"

what about voice mail, has that been checked?

This could be it too. It might depend on the provider you have. Most companies just use a icon to let you know you have voicemail, but T-mobile will send you a text and notify you that way. And I'm pretty sure that it will resend the message if you clear out the original one without checking the voicemail itself.

Might seem obvious and I am sure has been done, but maybe a soft reset could clear it up (cleared same problem for me).

I had a similar problem, it only occurred after resetting my Bberry....apprarently it save 4 messages from Nextel as UNREAD all the way at the beginning of my inbox. When in the inbox press the letter B and see if u see any messages there....

Just FYI, I had the EXACT same problem and couldn't find the new message anywhere but I was able to find the unread messages by following this. If you haven't tried it, give this a shot.

mine shows a phone and a mail icon when i miss a call

I had similar message deletion problems on my Verizon 7130e. My "new mail" icon indicated that I have 8 unread messages. When I received a new message and leave it unread, the new mail icon counted down; 7,6,5, etc for each new message that I received. Once I read one of these new messages; the counter starts re-incrimenting.
Also; my saved folder has one message that I cannot delete, no matter what I do.
The only thing that fixed it was to power off completely and remove the battery. Now my message folder is correct; but I still cannot delete the message in my saved folder. Any suggestions??

Check the handheld time. The wrong time can do all kinds of funky things with emails. Otherwise reset the handheld. It really does solve more things than it should.

I had the exact same problem, and it was driving me crazy - the earlier poster was right - I had an unread message in my saved messages folder.

Even the U shortcut said I had no unread messages.
