Hi Everyone, new BB user here. Just bought myself a unlocked T-mobile 8320 and i was wondering if it would it be worth upgrading to the latest non beta OS, whatever version it is as i'm not sure...

Any comments or advice is welcome...

That is the most current "released" OS for the 8320.

No, it's not.
The most current release is 4.2.2.184. You can get it here:

blackcivic, the 4.2.2.184 OS probably has some bug fixes, but if you aren't experiencing any problems with your current version then I'd say hold off. If it ain't broke...

If it ain"t broke, don't fix it. If things are working well and you have no issues, then why mess with a good thing?

thank you for you comments, and recommendations. I will stay with the current OS until 4.5 is out of beta however long that maybe, or until another OS comes out with noticeable and worthwhile changes

I actually do recommend the .184 version over the .180 version. Browsing over wifi/uma seems to be better and over all better stability using the .184 over the .180.

That doesn't mean you can't update to the latest version of the OS.

i have the 8320 with wifi and long storey short i disabled the data connection from my carrier's side so i won't have any chance of using wap, and i think to get uma, it's additional option to add on with a fee

true but if the newest OS just has UMA enabled, and i'd have to pay an additional fee for it, then i'm a bit more hesitant on upgrading

There are other bug fixes included with each release. .184 was better for me on my 8320. However, don't load it if you don't want to.

You're not getting this. .184 doesn't JUST enable UMA. That was one feature in the OS that was improved. There are likely other bugs fixed that you do use. UMA improvements were just a biggie for me. Your OS has UMA features in it already, you just don't use them.

Again...don't load it if you don't want to.
