I am a network admin for a small company and we recently have given about 4-5 members of staff a Blackberry 8820. As we only have a few handsets we decided to opt for the BIS service instead of ordering BES. My question for you is, how difficult is it to import the contact list from exchange and ideally, the outlook autocomplete email address (the .nk2 file) so users dont have to input a load of email addresses? I have installed the one user free BES and can connect the handset via USB either to the exchange server or to a workstation using the Blackberry user tools. The answer is probably staring me in the face but I wondered if I could get your advice please?

Check out "Desktop Manager" which comes on the CD with the BBs, or can be downloaded from BlackBerry

Included with Desktop Manager is Intellisync, which will allow you to sync contacts, notes, calendar and tasks from your desktop e-mail program (many people use Outlook). You can't bring over the NK2 nickname file, but you should be able to bring over all of their contacts.

This is done via USB cable; to do wireless sync you would need BES.

Thanks for the help. Can I ask, if someone already has some manually added contacts, and then I synchronise, will they be deleted?

Intellisync will ask you how to handle conflicts like that.
