I have a BB curve 8310 with Vodafone (UK) as my providor. I have recently moved to the Middle East and do not appear to be able to use the Etisalat chip in the phone. Its just another ploy to get consumers to buy a BB locally

Any ideas on how to get around this

Etisalat allows unlocked devices on their network. We have several Etisalat users here on the forum using BlackBerrys branded to another carrier.

You will need to unlock the phone before using another carrier's SIM. Check out Howard Wireless or gsmphonesource.

I don't know this Howard guy.

HorizonWirelessOnline is listed first in the FAQ linked above, along with instructions.
