BlackBerry Memory

Hey guys i am using the Blackberry pearl and i can't understand why the heck my phone's memory just vanishes. i have a 2 Gig memory card which has all my pictures (even my camera's pics) and my music. I've deleted absolutely every single application i don't need including AIM, FACEBOOK, BLACKBERRY MAPS, etc. i delete my cache history on a regular basis, i also delete useless words in my custom wordlist and text messages. I also dont have any voice notes, regular notes, tasks, or calendar entries. i'm completely baffled as to why my blackberry memory vanishes so quickly when i don't do anything.

my memory will fill up consistently to the point where i have no way of even getting new text messages

what's the solution? also how can i move applications to my media card?

You can't load applications to your Media Card.

I am betting you will still have a lot of junk in your device memory. Read these links for tips.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Are you closing your apps when you are not using them?

MiraQLis 06-10-2008 10:06 AM

i do close my apps when i'm not using them.

the only applications i have are

balckberry 4.2 core applications
blackberry 4.2 system properties
brickbreaker
browser
help
memopad
phone
tasks

i've deleted everything else.

i also have no text messages, nothing in my call log, nothing in my tasks, notes, calendar, no media saved on my phone (all on media card)

and my free memory is 12317680 Bytes out of a possible 64356352 bytes

that's a lot of free memory but i was at 0 until i just deleted blackberry maps

there has got to be something i'm missing right?

oh and i've cleaned out my cache memory and my custom wordlist memory too.

Mira, look at Options > Status.

Click Menu > Database Sizes

See which are the largest. Post back the top five.

MiraQLis 06-10-2008 10:19 AM

Address Book - 125 / 70.6K

Auto Text - 111 / 6.7k

Content Store - 30 / 556.0K

messages - 10 / 9.1K

browser bookmarks - 6 / 1.2k

i'm not lying, those are the top 5. sad huh?

Pull your battery (powered on) and replace. What is your file free after reboot?

MiraQLis 06-10-2008 10:37 AM

i just took my media card out and my memory jumped up from

12317680

to

23774228

Did you do that?

Part of the reason your device memory will jump up when the Media Card is removed is that your song titles, etc., are all held in cache for your Media Player. That does seem like a large jump, though.

but cool..

That's interesting. I don't think I've heard that before... Does it drop to the same level when re-inserted?
