Verizon uses the CDMA network, which is not available in Kenya. You need a GSM/GPRS unit. Telcom Kenya has announced CDMA coverage, but there is no release date.
In Kenya, the BlackBerry is supported on Safaricom. You need to get an unlocked GSM/GPRS unit (7230, 7290, 7100, etc), and see if Safaricom will offer you a BlackBerry Data package.
