Default Yahoo GO 3.0 messenger over data or SMS?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

As far as I know if we do yahoo, msn, google instant messaging on blackberry it will be sent over SMS and we encounter SMS fees.
I don't have unlimited text plan. I just have unlimited data plans on AT&T.
I would like to know what are the ways to use messenger over just data plan.

I got the below info from AT&T link which says Yahoo GO will use data instead of SMS. Is it true ?
Answer Center | AT&T, formerly Cingular

I would like to know if we can use Yahoo GO 3.0 One Connect in below link
Yahoo! oneConnect™. A whole new way to communicate on your phone.
without encounter any SMS charges ?

Thanks in advance

Yes, Yahoo Go is all data. You can find out more information on it in our Aftermarket Software forum. Just do a search of that forum and you'll find lots of posts about it.

As far as the IM applications on your 8110, they use data. The old "OZ" messenger that used to come loaded on the BB devices used sms. However, the new included applications use data.

Hi John,

Thanks. I checked in my installed Yahoo! GO 3.0 beta. I don't see anywhere messenger app to do instant messaging in the Yahoo! GO 3.0.
Is Instant Messaging not part of Yahoo GO 3.0?

Are you sure the "OZ" messenger in Blackberry 8110 uses data instead of SMS?. Is there any official anounment for this ?

Thanks
