Default Wireless sync between blackberry & desktop?

Please Login to Remove!

I've been reading a lot about wireless sync between a desktop and blackberry - that requires BES and/or MS Exchange, correct?

I use BIS, so is there any way for me to have my handheld & desktop wirelessly sync?

Thanks!

Wirelessly posted (Curve 8330)

Can only do with a BES, which requires a mail server (Exchanges, Domino, or Groupwise).

There are some 3rd Party companies that provide a server based mailbox along with a BES connection to individuals and small companies for a small fee. fee.

That's what I thought. Not worth it to me to pay much more than a couple bucks per month, but I doubt it is that cheap for the 3rd party companies.

Thanks

From what I have seen it is typically about 15-30 bucks depending on the provider.

Tough to justify if all you want is wireless sync.

Technically BT sync is wireless sync but it has obvious range limitations. If you mean wireless sync regardless of location then, yes, you have to be on BES.

You can use Google Sync on your BB to sync with a Google Calendar, then use Google Calendar Sync on your desktop to sync Outlook with that Google calendar. Roundabout, but it works.

yea, that's a great way to do it too. of course, many companies wouldn't want their corporate info floating around on google calendars in fear that an employee may accidentally make it public or it was hacked, etc.
