So I belong to a few text groups via UPOC, is there anyway to customize sms tones like you can calls? I'd like to mute sms tones from, is it possible on Blackberry's? I know with Motorola's the caller tone is the same as its respective sms tone when set accordingly, so I wanted to know if it can be done on RIM devices.

Yes, I know how to change profiles already, I was wanting to see if you customize sms tones per address contact as you are already able to do for caller tones.

Um, no -- you can.

You need to look into Profile Exceptions. There are detailed instructions if you search.

Actually it's part of the FAQ. I suggest bookmarking BlackberryFAQ.com and using it as a reference:

I love this exception feature, have never used it before. Now it changes profile settings on its own to accommodate me! Awesome Possum!
