i travel alot overseas and want to be able to use the 7520 for voice/data/GPS in europe and asia. can anyone shed some light on when/if this will be possible with the 7520? as it stands, BB seems to be ignoring the rest of the world besides 800 NA. the GPS functionality would be really great if it worked abroad. if not can anyone recommend a platform that does this? thanks.

You bought a Nextel BlackBerry. Nextel has very limited coverage outside of the US, Canada and Mexico. This is not a BlackBerry issue. BlackBerrys sold by T-Mobile and Cingular work in many countries around the world (except in Korea and Japan). The 7520 will not work in Europe or Asia because the iDen network, used only by Nextel, is not built there.

thanks. it seems strange that only Nextel and not more carriers, like T-Mobile and Cingular, offer the 7520. maybe its just a matter of time (is this the case?), but i would have thought that a GPS enabled BB would be a VERY valuable travel assist.

The 7520 is built to Nextel's specifications - the external antenna, the speakerphone, the GPS, the PTT. Nextel handsets (not just the BlackBerry) have different hardware than other phones, too.
