i was thinking about buying a blackberry 7100t through t-mobile and was looking at their site and when i added the data plan and the phone to the cart it seemed like it allowed me to purchase it without a cllaing plan. I didnt finish the trans action though. does t-mobile not force you to get a calling plan if you dont want it? sorry if this is in the wron place.

from what i kno you can only get data from all providers. unless t-mobile has some special rule, it will all be ok. when you think about it, alot of teh old blackberries are still in use that dont even have a phone capability.

well nextel requires both a data plan and a calling plan thats why i was asking im really considering getting a 7100t through t-mobile if i can only get the data plan and not have to get a calling plan. that would be awesome.

You most certainly CAN get a data plan without a calling plan from T-Mobile. They may charge you more per month for the data only portion, but we have several T-Mobile devices with data only (and a pay per call dialing plan - no monthly plan).

Mike_187, the "older" BlackBerrys use a different data network (Mobitext is one of them) that don't offer voice anyway, so the analogy is not quite accurate. And they charge a ton of money for their monthly data only, very slow networks (like $46/month for a 9600 bps network).

I have TMO BB data only without a voice calling plan. As a matter of fact, the phone is disabled. It has a phone number associated with it but my BB cannot dial out and when you dial the number, TMO tells you the number does not accept incoming call.

TMO offers say when you add a voice plan to the BB data plan, you get $10 off on the data plan. Normal TMO BB unlimited data plan is $29.98 for BIS and $39.98 for BES.

I pay 19.95 for unlimited data
29.95 for 300 minutes during the week, and unlimited weekends
