You should immediately contact your provider (AT&T) and report the phone as lost/stolen. If you are on a BES account, I believe your IT department can do a remote wipe of the device. If not, and no password protection is in force on the device, I am afraid the data and the use of the phone cannot be stopped/suspended/protected.

If you were on BIS and didn't password protect, the finder will not have a problem in terms of access to your memopad, calendar and contacts.

Do as advised by fonejunkie above. Ask that the SIM be disabled, and the PIN locked. There are third party applications to this that must be loaded to your BB beforehand, if you are not on a BES.
