Does anybody please know when O2 - UK plan to upgrade the BIS service to version 2.5? I sent them an email and they replied by saying please ring us !!

I did this (at a cost of 35P per minute) and they did not know what I was talking about.

You just need to re-send your service books from their portal.

It has been upgraded already, you will need to go to o2email.co.uk

Andrew, this info is correct. O2 have upgraded their servers, and you need to upgrade your BB o/s, I believe.

In the future ring them on 202 from your mobile, which is free.

It doesn't surprise me they didn't know what you were talking about though. I rang up a while ago asking about OS 4.5 upgrades and told them their target upgrade dates were in the past. Sadly no information was imparted, nor was the site corrected.

Thanks for the quick replies - I only joined up with O2 a month ago so I assume that I do not need to resend any service books - just need to wait for the OS 4.5 upgrade for the 8310 (which is absolutely great by the way - the telmap sat nav works a treat!!).

I just assumed that O2 had not yet upgraded to BIS 2.5 - is there any way to tell wnat version of BIS is running when you login to BlackBerry Internet Service

If o2 has upgraded their BIS server then the 4.5 OS download should be available shortly....... hopefully!

I too noticed that the next update for the 8310 was supposed to be in April of this year, but nothing seems to have happened!!

Doesn't seem to work if you are using a combination of BES and BIS
Been using 4.5 for a week or so on a 8800 on o2 and activated BIS before I did my BES activation.
Just tried requesting the servicebooks from o2 which appeared to come through but no HTML email on the inbound from yahoo email address.

Does the BES server take precedent over the BIS for email settings?

I am on o2 with OS 4.5.0.37, done all the service book updates and even tried deleting and re adding my email accounts. The images do not load up in my HTML email.

Phone with O2 called 8002.

The BIS version is 2.5.0.35.

However they asked for my BB PIN and confirmed that my software is out of date and not using the latest. They said they will apply the latest software to my phone within 1 hour. I am not sure what they are talking about as I am on a OS which they have yet to support. Does anyone know what they are talking about?

I think it's a UK thing where we're being blocked from the "Get Images" option.

Hopefully it'll work when they release the proper 4.5.

I've yet to find a UK BB 4.5 person who can successfully use the "Get Images" option.

It just does nothing, and then does wierdness (sets the e-mail as unread, constantly etc.)

I am still waiting and not sure much will change.

I have gone through the other post and can confirm if you change the APN to mobile.o2.co.uk (no need to enter username/password), and get image everything will work. However you will be charge by this as anything that is not wap or BIS is chargable under O2 BB unlimited plan.

So to confirm O2 does support BIS 2.5 and users willing to pay for data traffic under mobile.o2.co.uk can access it.

Just to let you all know the latest Opera mini will work under BIS. So no need to pay the high price of mobile web.
