The small firm I work for has their own Exchange server, but I'm the only BB user, and as such, cannot justify purchasing our own BES.
If I sign up for a hosted BES service, I presume that I have to use their exchange server. Correct?
I presume that I would have our exchange server forward all my email to the hosted exchange server, and that I would have to setup Outlook to connect to the hosted exchange server, not my firm's exchange server. Correct?
I have two problems: 1) I need to be able to access a couple of public folders on my firm's exchange server, and 2) some of my colleagues need to be able to access my calendar through Outlook. Is there any way to retain the above-two abilities if I switch to a hosted exchange server? I guess I need a way of synchronizing my account on my firm's exchange server with an account on a hosted exchange server. Is this possible?
As much as I love my BB, I think they are going to be in big trouble when Microsoft comes out with their next version of Exchange server that includes the ability to push email to MS-based cell phones. Spend thousands on a BES, or use the free service in Exchange - at that point I expect many, including myself, to seriously consider switching to a MS-based phone.
All help appreciated,
