Running Outlook 2003, Exchange 2003, BES 4.0, Desktop Manager 4.0 and 4.0 OS on 7290 Blackberry devices.
Have several users who have secondary Calendar and Contacts items (their bosses') on their Blackberry devices. They do not want the Calendar or Contact items in their Outlook as they have access to that person's cal/cont but need them on the BB. This is usually not a problem unless:
you get a new device and the DM is set to synch these items
you have a device with secondary Calendar or Contacts downloaded and get a new PC with DM that doesn't know about the secondary Calendar or Contacts
I usually just play it safe and remove the secondary Cal/Conts from PIM in DM and delete all items from Cal/Conts on the handheld and start all over, so to speak. However, with people who have 900 Contacts of their own and their boss has 1600, this can take a while and these are busy people who don't have time for this.
Here's my "real" question: Have a BB user who got a new BB and I logged in as him on my spare PC and got everything set up (including another users' Calendar as a secondary Calendar in DM, downloaded to his BB). He has to plug in to his laptop because he can't have wireless calendar so that he can synch and pick up the secondary Calendar as items are added/changed. Because I set everything up this morning on one of my PC's logged in as him, will his DM ask him when he plugs in if he wants to change to PIN XXXXX? And more importantly, do I run the risk of having all of the secondary calendar items dumped into Outlook when he only wants them on his Blackberry if I just plug in and don't play it safe like I normally do? Is there a much more efficient way to accomplish what they want? Any advice would be most appreciated as we have numerous users who have multiple Cal/Conts on their BB's and it's a real pain in the backside when they get on a new computer or get a new device. These are not people with 20 or 30 contacts, but 1000+. And hundreds of Calendar items.
