Default AIM on Alltel Curve?

Please Login to Remove!

I see that the Alltel BB Curve has options to install Google Talk and Yahoo, but why not AIM? When I go to blackberry.com/aim on my BB and try to install it, it says that my device does not meet the system requirements to install AIM. What does that mean? Why does it let me install GTalk and Yahoo but not AIM? Is there any way to get it on my Curve?

You can use AIM on Google Talk on the PC, not on your BB, at least not yet hopefully... As far as AIM, you need service books for it to work, it does not work on all carriers.

Why would Alltel allow Google Talk and Yahoo but not AIM?

Okay, then what's a good free AIM client? I've tried JiveTalk and I really liked that, but I just don't have the $ to buy it.

AIM is supported on VZW, but only if you use VZW's 3-in-1 IM app, which used text messages instead of data.

Here is a question from a slightly tweaked out customer, if I use JiveTalk on my soon to be purchased 8330 Curve, will I be able to connect to the AIM network? I am not a giant fan of using SMS for AIM, especially through one of VZWs proprietary apps.
