Work uses wordperfect; what to do? Yes I know about Repligo, but I don't want to spend 79 bucs a year. We can read WP docs as attachments to emails, but can't open them if saved on media card.

That's a tough one. The BB is built around Microsoft Office.

I'd change jobs. Or at least tell them to use OpenOffice.

Without OS 4.5 (which has a light version of Documents to Go) or a third party application to open the file, you can't. For whatever reason you can open and view attachments, but you can't most of them on an SD card.

If the Word Perfect documents are saved in MS Word format, you should be able to open them when they're attachments. If not, you'll need an application that does.

When I try to save a WP attachment, BB has a popup that says you're about to save a document that can't be viewed by BB, do you want to save anyway? Clearly, I need a 3rd pty app to open saved WP docs.

HOWEVER, what can be done (assuming you don't want to edit the WP or PDF docs, or whatever format) is to save the email that includes the attachment so in the future if you want/need to look at the document on your BB, there it is. Not ideal, but good enough for now, I guess.

I'm assuming this means the BlackBerry is not provided by work? If so then I suppose you may be a bit stuck. If it is a work-provided BlackBerry, maybe possibly point out to your IT department the silly compatibility issue?

Also, I don't know if this is an option but I know Gmail can open attachments with Google Docs, I dunno how well the BB Browser handles it yet though Perhaps autoforward messages or something?
