I got this phone September 2007 and it has never worked on Instant messaging or on media storage manager for storing or playing mp3 files.

I can see the files when the phone is hooked up to my pc and even play them
but once disconnected they are not visible on my phone.

I've spent countless hours and days with blackberry support on this and
the instant messaging issue and I was given a case number that was closed
without fixing the problem and a phone number to call that doesn't work

The representatives are nice on the phone but they end up hanging up on you
if they can't fix it and you ask them a question they can't answer.

If you think this is a frustrated post about a phone that won't work and nobody is willing to fix or replace ...then you are right.

I am unhappy and not a blackberry fan at this time.

what OS do you have on the phone?

I'm having the same IM problem.

I've tried several os on phone ...none of them worked.

And about the IM not working.....they told me on the phone that the case
is closed. But when I called to complain they said ...it's still being worked on
and the case is open.

Now, which one should I believe? They are very inconsistent in their answers
to me. They change their story every time I talk to them. Course, I've talked
to a lot of different people due to the fact that everytime you get hung up
on you can't seem to get the same person you spent 5 hours with and you
have to end up repeating the same crap all over.

Blackberry support is a joke. There is no support. Just a lot of people that
remind me of AOL where their policy is ...It's YOUR problem until you can
prove otherwise and I got a book of busy work I can put you through to
make you feel like you are actually accomplishing something.

At the end of the day ....you still have a phone that doesn't work.

That' not the experience I've had with RIM support. They've been able to resolve my issues pretty quickly and efficiently.
